Belgian Cut Salsify - Roland

Salsify is a parsnip-like root vegetable that has thick roots, tan skin and white flesh. This vegetable has an old fashioned nickname "oyster plant" because of its oyster like flavor. .

Preparation: Roland Salsify is already prepared. The only preparation is to heat and serve with butter or meat gravy. Fresh salsify is only available in some markets in the fall and winter. This is the perfect vegetable for canning because of its limited availability in this country.
