Vintage M. Redon PL Limoges Gold & Flowers Dessert Plates Set of 7

This vintage set of 7 rare M Redon Limoges dessert plates from the early 20th century is a true testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of the era.

The outer edge of these plates showcases an exquisite design featuring gold-encrusted raised leaves and entrelacs. This intricate pattern adds a touch of elegance and sophistication, creating a stunning frame for the inner artwork. The raised leaves provide a three-dimensional texture, enhancing the visual appeal of the plates. Inside the plates, a hand-painted multicolor flower garland takes center stage. This delicate artwork showcases the skill of the artist and brings a vibrant burst of color to the plates. The meticulously painted flowers, with their varied hues and intricate detailing, create a captivating display of botanical beauty.

The combination of the gold-encrusted raised leaves on the outer edge and the hand-painted flower garlands on the inside makes these plates truly exceptional. They embody the Art Deco aesthetic that was popular during the 1920s and 1930s, showcasing a harmonious blend of elegance and artistic expression.

These Limoges dessert plates are not only stunning decorative pieces but also functional, allowing you to serve desserts and other delicacies in style. They are a testament to the rich heritage of Limoges porcelain and a true collector's item for those who appreciate fine craftsmanship and timeless beauty.

Each plate is marked with the signature M Redon in red and PL in green, indicating their origin from the renowned porcelain manufacturer “La Porcelaine Limousine”. The Martial Redon factory began producing quality Limoges items in 1853. The combination of both marks was used from 1905 to the late 1930’s according to the book Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gatson. I believe those plates to be from the 1920’s.

They are in excellent vintage condition and look as if they have never been used.

Owning this vintage set of Limoges dessert plates would be a delightful addition to any table setting or a cherished display in a collection of fine porcelain. With their intricate details, rich history, and undeniable charm, these plates are sure to impress and become treasured heirlooms for generations to come.
